If your cruise ends in Barcelona, the Barcelona cruise port to airport transfer is the last job of the trip. It usually means a short, tight morning: your ship docks at dawn, you have to leave your cabin at a set time, and your flight leaves a few hours later. The transfer is easy to plan, but only if you know which terminal you are at and how you will carry the luggage.
The editorial team of Coach Hire Barcelona lists transport companies, so below we describe each option and say clearly when a booked vehicle is the sensible choice.
Barcelona cruise port to the airport
The port sits on the sea side of the city, and the airport is outside it, so you cannot walk. The direct options are a taxi or a pre-booked car, minibus or coach. A route on public transport exists, but it goes via the city and needs at least one change.
The taxi has the clearest price. The Institut Metropolità del Taxi's 2026 tariff notice lists a fixed rate, called Tariff 4, of 46 € between the airport and Moll Adossat, in either direction, with all supplements included. Moll Adossat is where most terminals are. For the World Trade Center quay we found no fixed rate, so the meter applies.

Getting from the Barcelona cruise terminals to the airport and the city
Barcelona has seven passenger terminals, according to the Port de Barcelona: A, B, C, D (Palacruceros), E (Helix), MSC and WTCB. They are on the Adossat quay and the Barcelona quay. Your ship's terminal is in your cruise documents, and it can change from one sailing to the next, so check it close to your date.
The port says the World Trade Center terminals are close to the public transport network, while the Adossat terminals rely on a shuttle bus. That difference decides how you reach the city.
Cruise Bus from the Adossat terminals
The Port de Barcelona lists the Cruise Bus at 3.5 € one way and 5 € round trip, linking the Adossat piers with the city centre. The service's own site, cruisebus.barcelona, sells tickets online for 1 to 10 passengers with card payment and describes a ride of about 5 minutes to La Rambla. It also offers a one-way ticket valid only for the date printed on it, and a day ticket for several trips on that date.
The bus goes to the city and not to the airport. After that you continue by metro, train or Aerobús, as explained in our airport to city centre guide. With big suitcases this is hard work.
By car or taxi
The Port de Barcelona says private vehicles may drop off or collect passengers and luggage at the terminals, but parking there is not allowed. Its guidance for the Adossat quay is to use Gate 2 for access. A taxi rank is located at the terminals, and a pre-booked driver can meet you at the same place.
By metro and train to the airport
The airport has two metro stations on line L9 Sud, Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2, with a train every 7 minutes according to TMB. TMB says single tickets and T-casual are not valid for airport trips: you need an Airport ticket or a Hola Barcelona Travel Card. The R2 Nord train serves Terminal 2 only. If you are flying from Terminal 1, the metro is the simpler public option.
Which transfer for which group?
| Party |
What we would look at |
| 1 to 2 people, hand luggage |
Cruise Bus then metro, or a taxi |
| 3 to 4 people, suitcases |
Taxi (46 € fixed fare to or from Moll Adossat) |
| 5 to 8 people |
Van or people carrier from a chauffeur service |
| 9 to 19 people |
Minibus |
| 20 or more |
Coach through charter bus or group coach hire |
A booked vehicle makes most sense for a group, a family with several suitcases, or any traveller with limited mobility. It costs more per head than public transport for two people, but it removes the risk of a missed flight.
Three cruise endings, three answers
A couple with two suitcases, flight at midday. A taxi from the rank at the terminal is the least effort. Moll Adossat has the 46 € fixed fare, so you know the price before you start. Public transport also works if you are flexible, but you will change at least once.
A family of six with four large cases. One standard taxi will not seat everyone. The Institut Metropolità del Taxi lists a supplement of 4.60 € for vehicles carrying 5 to 8 passengers, which is included in the fixed fare for the Adossat route. Ask for a larger taxi at the rank or pre-book a people carrier.
A group of 40 from a club or company, split across two flights. This is where a coach earns its price. Write down both flight times, ask the company to plan one or two departures, and make sure there is a person at the terminal who can find the group. See group coach hire.
What the port says about access
The Port de Barcelona says private vehicles can drop off or pick up passengers and luggage at the terminals, but there is no parking at the terminals. Parking lots exist in the port area and nearby. This matters if a friend or a hire car company will meet you: the meeting point should be a drop-off, not a place to wait.
The port also plans changes to its terminals over the coming years, and its pages warn that arrangements can change. Check your cruise documents shortly before sailing, and ask the transfer company to confirm the terminal on the day.
Questions to ask a transfer company
- Is the price per vehicle, and does it include waiting if disembarkation is late?
- Will the driver track the ship's arrival as well as the flight?
- Where exactly does the driver meet us, and what is their phone number?
- Is luggage included, and how many large suitcases fit?
- Do you cover the terminal we use, and have you worked there before?
A company that answers these clearly before you pay is usually the one that will be on time. Language also helps: most of the companies in our directory have websites in Spanish, and some add English, Catalan or French, so check each company's profile for the languages it lists.
If you are heading into the city, not the airport
Many passengers want the city first and the airport later. For that, the Cruise Bus from the Adossat piers is the budget choice, and a taxi from the rank is the quick one. If your ship docks at the World Trade Center quay, the port describes those terminals as close to public transport, so you may not need a bus at all. Left luggage, hotels and timings then decide what is best. Our airport to city centre guide covers the second leg, from the airport to the centre, and works in reverse for planning.
Booking a transfer from the cruise terminal
Our airport transfer page lists companies that handle airport runs, with Google ratings and the languages their websites offer. When you ask for a quote, include:
- Your cruise line, ship name and the date.
- The terminal, from your cruise documents.
- The expected disembarkation time and the flight time.
- The number of passengers and suitcases.
- Any wheelchair or child seat needs.
Ask if the price covers waiting time if disembarkation runs late. Cruise passengers are sometimes held on board for customs or for earlier groups, and a driver who leaves after 15 minutes does not help you.
Timing your day
We do not quote a fixed journey time between the port and the airport, because the port's pages do not give one and traffic changes it. Leave plenty of margin. Plan to reach the airport well before your check-in closes, and make sure your airline's check-in rules allow for the time you will need after leaving the ship. If your flight is early, think about asking the ship for a priority disembarkation slot and book your transfer for that time.
Starting your trip in Barcelona
If you are staying for a day before flying, you can use the same companies for sightseeing. Look at group coach hire for a day around the city, or shuttle bus for a shore excursion organised by your group. For day trips out of the city, see Barcelona to Sitges.
Common mistakes
- Confusing the Adossat and Barcelona quays: the 46 € fixed fare applies to Moll Adossat.
- Expecting the Cruise Bus to go to the airport. It links the piers with the city.
- Planning to park a hire car at the terminal. The port allows only drop-off and pick-up.
- Booking a transfer without your terminal or ship name.
- Not checking your cruise documents for a change of terminal.
