Searching for coach tours in Barcelona can send you to two very different kinds of company. One sells seats on a shared sightseeing trip. The other, which is what this directory covers, hires you a coach and a driver for your own group. If you are a tour leader, a club secretary or a teacher with 30 to 60 people, the second kind is the one you need, because you choose the stops and the timing.
On this page the editorial team explains how to match a vehicle to your group, how to read the list above, and what to ask before you accept a quote. When you are ready, the quote form goes to up to three companies at once.
Coaches for group tours in Barcelona
Group tours by coach in Barcelona work best when the route is fixed in advance and the driver knows the drop-off points. A typical day for a group of 50 might be a hotel pick-up, a morning at Sagrada Família, lunch, and an afternoon at Montjuïc or Park Güell, with the coach waiting between stops.
Most of the 59 companies listed describe excursions as one of their services. All of the top 25 in our ranking mention excursions on their own websites, and most also mention weddings or corporate trips. That tells you these firms are used to groups with a plan. For longer routes outside the city, see our guides to Barcelona to Sitges and Barcelona to Andorra by bus, or the wider charter bus page.
Which vehicle fits which group size?
A full coach is not always the right choice. The table shows the vehicle types companies name on their websites, with the seat counts they list. Use it as a guide, not a promise: each company's fleet is different.
| Group size |
Vehicle |
Seat counts named on company sites |
| Up to 8 |
Van or saloon car |
3, 4, 6, 7, 8 |
| 9 to 19 |
Minibus |
9, 10, 15, 16, 18, 19 |
| 20 to 35 |
Microbus |
22, 25, 28, 30, 32, 33, 35 |
| 36 to 60 |
Full-size coach |
47, 50, 55, 60 |
| 61 to 90 |
Large or double-length coach |
63, 64, 65, 68, 70, 72, 73, 80 |
If your group is close to a limit, ask for the next size up. Suitcases take space, and a coach filled to the last seat has nowhere to put them. For smaller parties, our minibus hire page may fit better.
Group transport companies in Barcelona
The companies are spread across the metro area. Barcelona itself has 19, Sant Boi de Llobregat has 5, Ripollet and Badalona have 4 each, and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat has 3. The rest are in towns such as Viladecans, Rubí, Mollet del Vallès and El Prat de Llobregat.
Where a company is based matters for two reasons. A coach that starts in Ripollet has to drive to your hotel first, and many companies add that empty distance to the price. A company near El Prat is also closer to the airport if your trip begins there. Our airport transfer page lists firms that specialise in that.
Our shortlist
Here are five picks for different needs. Each one is chosen from the data in our directory, not from a test ride.
- Autocares Autocorb (Barcelona): 4.8 stars from 303 Google reviews, a website in Spanish, Catalan, English and French, and a founding year of 1922 stated on its site. A good starting point if you want a long track record.
- Autocares Vista Bus (Barcelona): 5 stars from 103 reviews, with seat counts from 6 to 60 on its website, so it can cover both a family minibus and a full coach. It lists office hours Monday to Friday only.
- Direct Bus Barcelona (Barcelona): 791 reviews, the most of any company here, rated 4.4. Its website is in four languages, including French.
- Iglesias Bus (Sant Quirze del Vallès): 5 stars from 58 reviews, and Google also files it as a sightseeing tour agency. Website in Spanish, Catalan and English.
- Sagalés Elite Class (Badalona): seat counts up to 80 on its website, which helps for the biggest groups, with a four-language site.
If anyone in your group uses a wheelchair, Autocares Badabus, Autocars Fuentes and ESTEVE Business Cars all mention adapted vehicles on their websites. Confirm the exact vehicle and lift in writing before you book. You can read how the order is built on how we rank.
What to ask before you accept a quote
Two quotes for the same day can differ by a lot, mostly because they include different things. Ask each company the same questions:
- Is the price for the whole vehicle, and does it include VAT, fuel, tolls and parking?
- How many hours are included, and what does waiting time cost after that?
- Will the driver need a second driver or an overnight stay on a long day?
- Who arranges and pays for coach stops in the city centre?
- How many suitcases fit, and is there a wheelchair space if you need one?
- What happens if the coach breaks down or arrives late?
On the driver question, European rules are strict. The European Commission summary of Regulation (EC) 561/2006 says the daily driving limit is 9 hours, and a break of at least 45 minutes must come after 4.5 hours of driving at the latest. A day that starts at 7 am and ends at 11 pm cannot be done by one driver, so a good quote shows how the company handles it.
Can the coach drop my group at the attractions?
Not everywhere, and not at any time. Barcelona's tourism department says that under Zona Bus 4.0, tourist coaches need a daily permit to operate in central Barcelona, and brief pick-up and drop-off stops in busy tourist areas must be booked in advance. Stops are allocated by time slot, and coaches can wait at park-and-ride areas outside the centre such as Camp Nou and Diagonal Mar.
For you, this means the exact time of your visit to a popular site should be fixed before the coach company books the stop. Give the company your timed entry tickets, and ask them to confirm the drop-off point and where the coach will wait.
Red flags when comparing coach firms
- A very low price with no list of what is included.
- No mention of the vehicle's age, seat count or accessibility when you ask directly.
- Pressure to pay the full amount in cash on the day.
- No answer to simple questions about driver hours.
- Reviews that mention late arrivals more than once and no reply from the company.
A company with a handful of reviews can still be good. Autocares Intercar in Gavà, for instance, has 5 stars from 4 reviews and states a founding year of 1989 on its website. With few reviews, ask for references or compare it with another quote.
How to get your quote
Write down your date, pick-up place, route, head count and luggage, and your return time. Then send the quote form. It goes to up to three companies, and you can compare their answers side by side. To see typical cost drivers first, read coach hire prices. For other transport types, see our shuttle bus and chauffeur service pages.
