A chauffeur service in Barcelona is for people who want a named driver, a car chosen for them and a price settled before the trip. This page shows how we would choose between companies, what to ask and which traps to avoid. The company cards above carry the data on ratings, vehicles and hours.

Private drivers in Barcelona

We list 52 companies based within 20 km. By town, Barcelona has 29, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat 8, Sabadell 4 and Badalona 4. None of the 52 states a fleet size on its own website, and 2 mention PMR-adapted vehicles, so ask directly if you need step-free access.

The seat counts that companies name run from 3 to 55. In practice this category covers cars for one to three passengers, 7-seat vans, minibuses and, at a few firms, limousines. Ratings are high: 32 of 52 companies have 4.5 stars or more with at least 10 reviews, but a high score from 20 reviews is weaker evidence than a 4.8 from 500. Look at both numbers.

Our shortlist

These choices answer different needs.

  • Flash Renting in Sabadell has the top rank: 5 stars over 236 reviews and open Monday to Friday 8 am to 8 pm according to Google.
  • Royal Falcon Limo has the most reviews among the top ten (541, rated 4.8), is open 24 hours and lists limousine, minibus and car on its English-language website.
  • Chauffeur Privé Espagne offers its website in Spanish, English, French, German and Italian and says it has been active since 1921.
  • Malco Rent a Car in L'Hospitalet (4.8, 125 reviews) lists vehicles from 3 to 9 seats and a website in Spanish, English and German.
  • TransferS GROUP is open 24 hours and publishes in Spanish, English and Russian.
  • Relier Spain names seat counts of 7, 19, 22, 28 and 52, so a mixed group can use one company.
  • Limusinas Experience has Google hours from 9 am to 11 pm every day.

Chauffeur companies in Barcelona

The Google categories show what each company sells. "Chauffeur service" and "Limousine service" firms sell a fixed-price car with driver. "Airport shuttle service" firms focus on pick-ups, see our page on airport transfers. "Minibus taxi service" and "Bus charter" mean larger groups, and for these a minibus hire or charter bus page may fit better.

Chauffeur or taxi: how to decide

A taxi is regulated and metered, a chauffeur is quoted. The Institut Metropolità del Taxi's 2026 taxi tariffs list a 2.80 euro flag fall, 1.35 euro per km on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00 and 1.66 euro per km at night, on Saturdays and on holidays, a waiting charge of 27.75 euro per hour and a 4.60 euro airport supplement. Those figures apply to taxis, not to private chauffeurs, whose rates vary by company and are not set by this tariff.

Choose a chauffeur when the date matters, when you want a particular vehicle or language, or when the trip has several stops. Choose a taxi for a short unplanned ride.

How do you meet a private driver at the airport?

Companies differ. Aena's page on vehicles for hire lists a VTC meeting point at the T1 car park, floor -1, and lists separate stops for Uber, Cabify and Bolt at each terminal. A chauffeur firm will tell you whether the driver waits at arrivals with a sign or at one of these points. Get the driver's name and phone number before you fly, and give your flight number so the company can track delays.

What to ask before you book

  • Is the price fixed in euros, including tolls, parking, waiting time and VAT?
  • How many hours or kilometres are included on a day hire?
  • Does the driver speak my language, and is that confirmed in writing?
  • What car will I get, and can I ask for a baby seat or booster?
  • What is the cancellation rule and the charge if my flight is late?
  • Does the company have the licence to carry passengers for hire?

Red flags

  • A price quoted with no questions about date, time or luggage.
  • No company name or address on the quote.
  • Payment demanded by transfer to a personal account.
  • A driver that cannot show a booking reference on arrival.
  • A "luxury" promise with no vehicle model.

What does a chauffeur do that an app ride does not?

The main difference is certainty. With a booked chauffeur the vehicle class, the pick-up point and the price are fixed before you travel, and the company is accountable for the trip. That matters for business travellers with a meeting to reach, for families landing with children after a long flight, and for anyone who wants to hand over a clear written plan for the day.

An app ride is faster to order when you are already on the pavement, and it can be cheaper for short trips. A chauffeur is stronger when you have several stops, a tight timetable or a need for a specific language. Neither is better in every case, which is why we compare companies by the data they publish and by Google reviews instead of by a single claim.

Some firms sell both a one-way transfer and an hourly "disposal" service. On an hourly booking, ask what happens when the plan changes: whether the driver can add a stop, how overtime is charged and who pays for parking while you are inside a restaurant or a meeting. Getting these answers in writing keeps the day simple.

Long trips with a private driver

Excursions from Barcelona are popular with chauffeurs: Sitges, Montserrat, Girona and the Costa Brava. We have a guide to Sitges. For a trip to Andorra, see our Andorra by bus page, which compares options, and for the first miles from the airport read Barcelona airport to the city centre.

When you know your date, hours and passengers, use the quote form. It goes to up to three companies, and the way we order the lists is explained on how we rank.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a private chauffeur in Barcelona cost?
Each company sets its own price, usually by trip or by the hour, so request quotes with your route, hours and passengers. We do not publish a figure we cannot source. For comparison only, the regulated taxi tariff has a 2.80 euro flag fall and a 27.75 euro hourly waiting charge in 2026.
What is the difference between a chauffeur and a taxi?
A taxi is hailed or called and charged by meter at a regulated tariff. A chauffeur service is booked in advance with a vehicle, driver and price agreed beforehand, and often a set waiting time. Chauffeur firms usually offer higher-class cars and day or hourly hire as well as point-to-point rides.
Can I hire a private driver for a full day?
Yes, many companies sell hourly or full-day hire for city tours or excursions to places such as Girona, Montserrat or the Costa Brava. Ask how many hours are included, what the driver's waiting time costs and whether fuel, tolls and parking are in the price.
Do Barcelona chauffeurs speak English?
Some do. From the companies' own websites, more than half of our top 25 list English, and a few add French, German, Italian, Russian or Portuguese. Several list Spanish only. State the language you need in your request and check the reply before confirming.
Where does a private driver meet me at the airport?
It depends on the company. Aena lists a VTC meeting point in the T1 car park, floor -1, and separate stops for ride-hailing apps. A chauffeur company usually meets you at arrivals with a sign. Ask for the meeting point and the driver's phone number in writing.
