The barcelona to andorra bus question usually starts with two travellers and a flight, but it quickly turns into a group problem: a ski week, a school trip, a company outing, a family of eight with skis. This guide covers the scheduled coaches first, then the cases where a private vehicle makes more sense. Timetables and fares below were checked on the operators' own sites in October 2026.
Bus from Barcelona to Andorra
Three coach brands serve the route, and most departures start at Barcelona Airport. Andorra Direct Bus and Andbus both leave from El Prat, while Alsa uses a stop in the city.
Andbus lists Barcelona Airport T1 (ground floor, platforms 7 to 12), T2 (outside Arrivals T2B) and a BCN Diagonal stop on Avinguda Diagonal. It runs 10 departures a day from T1 at 00:45, 06:45, 08:45, 10:45, 12:45, 14:45, 16:45, 18:45, 20:45 and 22:45. Returns leave the Andorra bus station every two hours from 02:00 to 20:00. The company adds that times depend on road traffic.
Andorra Direct Bus says it runs 16 buses a day between 06:15 and 23:45, serving Barcelona Airport (T1 and T2) and Sants station, with a stop at the Andorra bus station and another at Sant Julià de Lòria. Its page quotes about three hours to three hours 45 minutes depending on the departure point.
Alsa states that it has more than nine daily services between Barcelona and Andorra. Its Barcelona stop is listed as Barcelona (Nord), at calle Ali Bei 80. Estació del Nord is one of Barcelona's coach stations, so allow time to reach it from your hotel.

Barcelona airport to Andorra: the easiest start
If you land at El Prat, take a coach straight from the terminal. You do not need to go into the city and back out again.
Andbus waits on the ground floor of T1 and outside Arrivals at T2. Andorra Direct Bus also serves both terminals. Allow time for baggage claim: a 06:45 coach is not realistic for a 06:10 landing. A later flight can still connect, because both companies run into the late evening, but check the last departure before you book a one-way ticket. Andbus's last departure from T1 is 22:45 and Andorra Direct Bus's last is 23:45.
Arriving as a group changes the maths. A bus with seats for 50 will not always have 20 empty seats on the day you want, and your party can be split across two departures. If that matters, our airport transfer companies and the Barcelona airport to city centre guide show how a private pick-up works before you travel on.
When a private coach or minibus makes sense
A private vehicle beats the scheduled bus when the group is ten or more, when luggage or ski equipment is bulky, or when you need a fixed time.
Think about three situations.
- Ski groups. You start and finish at the same hotel, and you can load boards and bags without worrying about an overhead limit.
- Schools and clubs. The teacher decides the stops, and the driver waits. A school group of 45 fills a full-size coach (see our charter bus Barcelona list).
- Weddings and events. Guests arrive from several points and need one vehicle, so a minibus for 16 to 30 people can be cheaper than 20 separate tickets.
A full-day return trip is long. The scheduled coaches take about three hours each way, so a return day trip is six hours of driving or more. European driving rules (Regulation (EC) No 561/2006, EUR-Lex) allow a coach driver nine hours of driving a day, extendable to ten twice a week, with a 45-minute break after four and a half hours of driving. A simple Barcelona to Andorra day trip fits within that, but waiting time, traffic and a return after dark are what push the price up, and a second driver may be needed if you stay late.

For a price, there is no honest fixed figure: it depends on seats, kilometres, hours of waiting, tolls and the driver's overnight stay. Our coach hire prices guide explains each line of a quote. Send your date, group size and pick-up point through the quote form and up to three companies reply.
Companies that handle long-distance coach trips
These companies from our ranked list advertise coaches or minibuses on their own websites. We have not hired or ridden with them; the notes come from the data in the directory.
- Autocares Autocorb in Barcelona has 303 Google reviews at 4.8 stars, a website mentioning vehicles of 28 to 72 seats, a founding year of 1922 and a website in Spanish, Catalan, English and French.
- Autocares Vista Bus in Barcelona has 103 reviews at 5 stars and a website listing coaches and minibuses with seat counts from 6 to 60. Its Google hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 8 pm, closed on weekends, so ask about weekend departures early.
- Soler bus SL in Sant Boi de Llobregat shows 71 reviews at 5 stars and Google hours of 24 hours every day, which helps with very early or late departures.
- Iglesias Bus in Sant Quirze del Vallès has 58 reviews at 5 stars and a website listing vehicles from 15 to 65 seats.

Barcelona to Andorra by bus, coach and private transfer
The choice comes down to group size, luggage and how much the exact departure time matters. Here is how we would think about three typical travellers.
A solo traveller or couple arriving by air. Book the scheduled coach that leaves after your landing time, with a buffer for baggage. Both Andbus and Andorra Direct Bus serve the terminals, so you do not need to cross the city. Compare the two websites for your date, because Andbus quotes a fixed web fare (33 euro single, 56 euro return) and Andorra Direct Bus quotes fares from 31.50 euro.
A family of five or six. Five single tickets add up, and a private car or van with a driver may come out close in price once luggage is included. Request a quote and compare it with the sum of the tickets. Our chauffeur service list covers cars and vans with a driver.
A group of twenty or more. Scheduled coaches are not built for this. Ask for a charter and decide where the driver waits. If the group arrives at El Prat, the vehicle can wait at the terminal and drive straight on, which removes the transfer to a bus station altogether.
What the scheduled operators say about timing
Both operators warn that times depend on traffic. Andbus says compliance with its schedules is subject to road conditions, and Andorra Direct Bus gives a range of three hours to three hours 45 minutes depending on the departure point. Build slack into any plan that has a fixed commitment at the other end, such as a ski lesson or a hotel check-in deadline.
If your trip starts in the city rather than at the airport, a stop such as BCN Diagonal on Andbus's list or Sants on Andorra Direct Bus's list saves you the trip out to El Prat. Check which stop is closest to your hotel before you choose between operators.
Do UK citizens need a visa for Andorra?
No, British citizens with a full British passport do not need a visa for Andorra, according to GOV.UK. The same page says you must travel through France or Spain to reach Andorra, so you must meet Schengen entry rules for that country.
The GOV.UK entry requirements page for Andorra states that your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before arrival and expire at least three months after you leave the Schengen area. Stays beyond three months need a work or residence permit from Andorran immigration. Other nationalities should check with the Andorran Ministry of Foreign Affairs or their own government's travel advice.
For a group, ask each member to carry the passport or ID card their nationality needs. A coach driver cannot solve a document problem at the border.
How many days in Andorra is enough?
A day trip is workable with a private vehicle; two to four nights suits a ski or shopping holiday. Because each leg is about three hours, a scheduled coach day trip leaves little time on the ground.
- One day: only with a private vehicle and a departure before 8 am. Plan for a late return.
- One night: a better use of the journey for a group or a shopping trip.
- Three to four nights: typical for skiing, with the coach used only on arrival and departure days.
If you are weighing Andorra against a coastal day trip, our Barcelona to Sitges guide shows a coastal trip you can make by train.
What a private trip to Andorra needs
A private trip needs a clear brief so that companies can quote the same thing. Without it, one price includes tolls and waiting time and another does not.
- Dates and times. Give the outbound departure and the return pick-up. If the return depends on the weather or on an event, say so.
- Pick-up and drop-off. An airport terminal, a hotel address or a bus station. For Andorra, name the town or the resort.
- Passengers and luggage. The seat count decides the vehicle, and bags or ski equipment decide whether you need a larger one.
- Waiting time. A driver who stays in Andorra all day is a different price from one who drops you and returns.
- Documents. Passengers carry the passports or ID cards their nationality needs; GOV.UK covers British travellers.
- Driver hours. For a long day, ask whether a second driver is needed, using the EU rule of nine driving hours a day as the starting point.
Our coach hire prices guide explains each line of a quote so you can compare two offers fairly.
Tips before you book
- Open the operator's page on the day you book: timetables and fares change by date.
- Choose the pick-up that fits your plans. The airport stop avoids a trip into the city; the Barcelona Nord stop suits travellers staying downtown.
- Keep luggage within the operator's limits. Neither of the operator pages we opened described allowances in full, so confirm them when booking.
- For private hire, give the exact addresses, the number of people and the number of bags. Ask whether tolls and waiting time are in the quote.
- Check the return, not only the outbound trip. Andbus's last return from Andorra in its listed timetable leaves at 20:00.
