Coach Hire Barcelona

What coach hire costs in Barcelona

By Editorial team · Updated October 2026 · How we rank

Coach hire prices in Spain are published as ranges: one 55-seat operator quotes 350 to 950 euro for a half day and 550 to 1,450 euro for a full day with a driver (updated February 2026). A Barcelona minibus operator lists 262 euro for four hours and 525 euro for eight. Your quote depends on seats, hours, kilometres, waiting time and the date.

This guide explains coach hire prices for Barcelona and what sits behind them. We publish no price list of our own, because the companies in our directory set their own rates and change them by date. What we can do is show the figures that companies publish openly, explain every line of a quote and tell you what to ask before you accept one.

What coach hire costs in Barcelona

Public figures put a 55-seat coach with a driver at hundreds of euro for a half day and up to around 1,450 euro for a full day. The ranges below come from a Spanish operator's price page (Busbanet, a Madrid company, updated 12 February 2026), so they are not Barcelona-only.

Service (55 seats, with driver) Published range
Half day or local transfers 350 to 950 euro
Full day 550 to 1,450 euro
Weddings or short transfers (full day) 350 to 550 euro
Day excursions of about 100 to 200 km 550 to 1,450 euro
Long distance, several days, about 700 km From 1,950 euro

Busbanet's price page says routes away from Madrid and its surroundings tend to cost more, and it advises asking for a personalised quote. It names parking in cities such as Barcelona at 80 to 100 euro a day as one extra that can raise the total. The page does not give a price per kilometre.

A coach quote is a package: vehicle, driver, insurance, fuel and a set number of hours or kilometres. Anything outside that package is an extra.

Coach and minibus hire prices explained

A rate card shows the logic best. Barcelona Lands publishes rates for a 28-seat minibus in Barcelona.

Service (28-seat minibus) Price
City visit, 4 hours 262 euro
City visit, 8 hours 525 euro
Disposition (Baix Llobregat area), 4 hours 316 euro
Disposition (Baix Llobregat area), 8 hours 592 euro
Extra hour 67 euro
Transfer into the metropolitan area, 1 hour 144 euro
Transfer into the area with arrival-terminal assistance 191 euro

The page does not say whether tolls, the driver or VAT are included, so ask before you compare it with another quote. The figures show a pattern: an eight-hour day costs about twice a four-hour one, so the hourly rate falls only a little as the booking gets longer. An extra hour costs about the same as an hour inside the package.

For smaller groups, our minibus hire list shows companies that advertise vehicles from 15 to 35 seats, and for a full-size coach see charter bus Barcelona.

How much does a minibus cost per day?

A 28-seat minibus on a Barcelona rate card costs around 525 euro for eight hours and 592 euro if the service is based in the Baix Llobregat area. Smaller vans cost less and larger coaches more, but we do not quote figures we cannot confirm.

Use the table above as an orientation, then compare it with at least two quotes for your own date. A day that runs past the hours in the package turns into extra hours at a rate like the 67 euro above. A pick-up at the airport may also be priced as a transfer, not a disposition.

How much is a coach per hour?

Coaches are priced as a service (a transfer, a half day, a full day), with an hourly rate only for extras. Dividing a rate card by its hours gives an approximate hourly figure: the 28-seat minibus above works out at about 65 to 66 euro an hour for 4 and 8 hours. That figure is arithmetic on a published card, not a promise from any company.

The cost per hour changes with the kind of trip. A long wait costs more than a short one, because the vehicle and driver are tied up. A one-way transfer is not half of a return trip, because the vehicle must come back empty.

What pushes the price up or down?

Seats, hours, distance, date and extras decide the price. Quote requests that include all of these get comparable answers.

  • Seats. A bigger vehicle costs more, and a coach that is too large for the group wastes money. A table of group size against vehicle is in our group coach hire guide.
  • Hours and kilometres. Some quotes bill by time, others by distance, and many combine both.
  • Date and time. Night hours, public holidays and busy weeks cost more, as Busbanet notes.
  • Driver rules. A second driver on long days can be required by rest rules. Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 (EUR-Lex) sets nine hours of driving a day, extendable to ten twice a week, and a 45-minute break after four and a half hours of driving.
  • Tolls, parking and access. Barcelona's Zona Bus scheme charges a daily permit of 35 euro per coach for coaches using its parking or short-stop spaces. Short stops without a reservation cost 2.80 euro per operation with a limit of 10 minutes, and the special sites that need a reservation cost 5.60 euro plus a 3 euro booking fee.
  • Overnight stays. On multi-day trips the driver's accommodation and meals are part of the bill.
  • Extras. Guides, child seats, wheelchair access and onboard services are added lines.

What to ask before you accept a quote

  1. Is the price for the vehicle and driver only, or does it include fuel, tolls, parking and VAT?
  2. How many hours or kilometres does it cover, and what does an extra hour cost?
  3. Does the driver wait for the whole event, or does the vehicle leave and return?
  4. What are the cancellation and payment terms?
  5. Can you see the company's licence and insurance documents?
  6. What happens if the schedule changes on the day?

Put the same answers in writing from each company so that the totals can be compared. A low price that leaves out tolls and waiting time is not low.

A worked example: comparing three quotes

Imagine a group of 45 going on a full-day excursion of about 150 km from Barcelona. The published Spain-wide range for a 55-seat coach on a day excursion of 100 to 200 km is 550 to 1,450 euro. That is a wide band, so it is a reason to ask for several quotes, not a price to expect.

Suppose three companies reply with three different totals. The totals alone tell you little. The useful question is what each one includes, and a grid like the one below makes the gaps visible.

Question to answer for each quote Company A Company B Company C
Tolls and fuel included? Fill in Fill in Fill in
Hours covered Fill in Fill in Fill in
Driver waits all day? Fill in Fill in Fill in
Parking and Zona Bus permit Fill in Fill in Fill in
Cost of an extra hour Fill in Fill in Fill in

Fill in the grid for each company, using the written quote and not a phone call. A cheaper quote that excludes tolls, parking and waiting time may end up costing more than a dearer one that includes them. When two quotes look the same, the company with the clearer terms is easier to work with on the day.

Does a bigger vehicle always cost more?

Usually yes, but a larger vehicle can be cheaper per person. A 28-seat minibus at 525 euro for eight hours works out at about 19 euro per person with a full load of 28, while a half-full vehicle is more expensive per head. The point is to match the seat count to the group, with a few spare seats for luggage and late arrivals, and not to book the biggest vehicle by habit.

Check the number of seats named on each company's own website, because the same label, such as minibus, can mean 16 or 35 seats. When you ask for quotes, give the exact headcount.

Prices for common trips

Two guides show how the factors above apply to real routes. For a long road trip, the Barcelona to Andorra guide compares scheduled coaches with a private vehicle and explains why waiting time matters on a six-hour round trip. For a short coastal trip, the Barcelona to Sitges guide shows when a group should skip the commuter train. Airport pick-ups are priced as transfers, so the airport transfer companies are the right list for those.

Ask for quotes

The fastest way to get comparable prices is to send one request with the date, pick-up and drop-off addresses, group size, hours and luggage. The quote form sends it to up to three companies, and you decide which answer fits.

Before you send the form, decide what matters most: the lowest total, the clearest terms or the most flexible return time. Companies answer faster when the request says what you are comparing. If your plans are not fixed, say which dates you can move, because a quiet weekday can be cheaper than a Saturday in the wedding season. Also say if you accept a smaller vehicle on the return leg, as some companies can reduce the price when a group splits.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a bus in Barcelona?
There is no single price. A Madrid operator publishes 350 to 950 euro for half a day and 550 to 1,450 euro for a full day for a 55-seat coach with a driver, and a Barcelona minibus operator lists 262 euro for four hours with 28 seats. Real quotes vary by date, route and extras.
How much is a coach per hour?
Coaches are usually priced per service rather than per hour, with hourly extras. The Barcelona minibus rate card we checked charges 67 euro for an extra hour on a 28-seat vehicle. Dividing its 8-hour rate of 525 euro by eight gives roughly 66 euro an hour, but a coach with more seats costs more.
How much would it cost to rent a minibus for a day?
For a 28-seat minibus, Barcelona Lands lists 525 euro for eight hours of city visit and 592 euro for eight hours of disposition in the Baix Llobregat area. A smaller van costs less and a 50-seat coach costs more. These are rate-card figures, so confirm what a quote includes.
How much to hire a coach for 4 hours?
The only 4-hour figure we could confirm for Barcelona is a 28-seat minibus at 262 euro for a city visit, or 316 euro for a four-hour disposition in the Baix Llobregat area. A 55-seat coach for a half day is published as 350 to 950 euro by a Spain-wide operator.
How many seats does a minibus have?
The minibuses in our directory name seat counts from about 15 to 35 on their websites, such as 19, 25, 30 and 35. Larger vehicles run from 50 to 72 seats. The Barcelona Lands rate card we checked prices a 28-seat minibus. Always confirm the exact seat count when you request a quote.
What makes coach hire more expensive?
Night or holiday hours, a second driver on long days, extra hours, tolls, parking, access charges and overnight stays for the driver push the price up. A short wedding transfer is at the low end of a published range and a 100 to 200 km excursion is near the top.
